Bath Community Park playground donation opportunities
Bath Township, in partnership with Environmental Design Group (EDG), recently held a public forum to discuss potential upgrades to the Bath Community Park. The forum focused on safety concerns, accessibility, and future enhancements based on community input.
Key Issues Identified:
- Parking and Safety: Residents and Township officials have highlighted the need for more parking to improve accessibility and overall safety.
- Stormwater Control: Resident feedback has emphasized the need for better drainage to keep the park safe and usable.
- ADA Compliance: Ensuring that the park meets ADA accessibility standards for individuals with disabilities is a priority.
- Restroom Expansion: Increased park usage has created a demand for additional restroom facilities.
- North Fork Trail Connectivity: Residents expressed interest in an interior connectivity of the North Fork Trail at Bath Community Park.
- Recreational Enhancements: Suggestions included dedicated pickleball/tennis courts, an upgraded upper playground, and potential new amenities such as an amphitheater, splash pad, pool, and dog park.
Bath Township’s planned funding and action steps include:
- Allocating funds for parking expansion, stormwater control, ADA compliance, and restroom additions.
- Assigning park employees to work on internal trail connectivity.
- Pursuing grant funding to renovate pickleball/tennis courts, which will require a township funding match.
- Seeking donations to fund the renovation and enhancement of the upper playground.
Township officials have determined that the playground near the tennis courts will be removed, with salvageable equipment repurposed for the upper playground. In addition, a spinner, tunnel, dome and zipline are planned to enhance the area. To help fund this project, the township is seeking donations from residents and local organizations.
