COMMUNICATIONS CENTER
Our Communications Center is staffed by both full-time and part-time Communication Specialists who serve as the critical first point of contact between the public and emergency services. Each member of our team is certified through the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) in Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) and is responsible for answering all 9-1-1 emergency, non-emergency, and administrative calls received by the Center.
We are proud to incorporate “Ava”, our Intelligent AI Assistant, into our daily operations to enhance administrative call handling and overall service efficiency. Ava supports our team by managing non-emergency and administrative calls, ensuring accurate information collection, reducing wait times, and allowing our personnel to remain focused on priority and emergency-related matters. By leveraging advanced technology, Ava helps streamline communication, improve responsiveness, and maintain the high level of service our community expects. This integration reflects our continued commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and providing the most efficient service possible to the public.
Communication Specialists utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) technology to document incidents and manage call entries with accuracy and efficiency. They also access the Ohio Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS), which provides critical local, state, and national information, including driving records, criminal histories, warrant status, and emergency alerts. All personnel are required to maintain biannual EMD recertification to ensure proficiency in providing pre-arrival lifesaving instructions in accordance with IAED protocols until EMS personnel arrive on scene.
Our Communications Center provides dispatch services for the Bath Police and Fire Departments. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining warrant and protection order records, coordinating the “We Care” senior citizen program (email for more information), and serving as the after-hours contact for Township Roads and Parks Department emergencies. Dispatchers also maintain updated contact information for local businesses to facilitate communication outside of normal operating hours.
